Akshara started her career in films with the Tamil language action film named Uyarthiru 420. In her debut movies she was casted as Devatha in a lead role along with Snehan as Thamizh; Vaseegaran as Rishivanth; Meghana Raj as Iyal; & Aishwarya Rajesh as Charu. The movie was written and directed by S. Premnath and released under Rich India Talkies banner. Uyarthiru 420 was released on August 12th, 2011.

In the year 2011, she appeared in a Hindi language Festival film named Chitkabrey – The Shades of Grey.
