She received just 46 votes and lost the seat.

Later in the same year, ie. in the year 2018, ‘Andleeb Abbas ‘ was elected as a PTI candidate to the National Assembly of Pakistan on a women’s reserved seat from Punjab province in the General Elections of Pakistan, held in July 2018. She was officially appointed as the “Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs ” by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan on September 27th, 2018.

Her husband Hamza is the grand-son of Pakistan’s first Test captain Abdul Hafeez Kardar, who later served as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and also was the Punjab food minister during the PPP government in the early 70’s. Hamza’s father Mr. Shahid Hafeez Kardar was former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and also a former Finance Minister.

Career

She started her career as a makeup artist and owned herself a studio until the year 2015. In the same year, she gave an audition to appear as a guest on a show on Dunya News to cover the 2015 Cricket World Cup alongside former national team players Saeed Ajmal and Imran Nazir and succeeded in doing so with immense confidence which was a launching pad for her career as a cricket presenter and commentator.

Then to cover the Pakistan national cricket team’s official tour of England in the year 2016, she was sent to England as an official correspondent for Dunya News. In England, she was invited as a guest on BBC’s Test Match Special where her cricketing knowledge was highly appreciated. After her successful return from the tour of England, she earned herself a full-time contract on the “Dunya News ” to host & present her own show called ‘Cricket Dewangi ‘. She hosted the show from the year 2016 to year 2018.

Not only in the mainstream media, Zainab was also active in the print media in those days, where she used to write sports articles for the Pakistani independent news outlets like ‘The Dunya News ‘ & ‘The Dawn ‘. She was also one of the main presenters and hosts of the infamous Pakistan Super League, which was inaugurated in the year 2016.

She also presented the the Abu Dhabi T10, which was launched in the year 2017 in the United Arab Emirates and was approved by the Emirates Cricket Board. The Abu Dhabi T10 league was one of the cricketing leagues of a different kind which was officially sanctioned the league in the year 2018 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Here in the Abu Dhabi T10 league, the matches are 10-over-a-side and the duration of each match is 90 minutes.

In the month of May 2019, she had the honours of becoming the first women presenter, a sports reporter and a commentator to cover a World Cup event and represent Pakistan. She also became a household name after successfully hosting the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. She also became the first Pakistani female presenter and host to debut on the ‘Sky Sports’ as part of the broadcasting team for the inaugural season of “The Hundred “.

Run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), “The Hundred ” is a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament, which involves eight men’s and eight women’s teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The tournament was first played in the month of July and August 2021.

Once in an interview, she shared the hardships she faced before touching the sky in the male dominated world. She shared her experiences and how she became a superstar even after several failures. In an interview, she said “In Pakistan being a woman in sports is a challenge. Some cricketers are not comfortable with me and some have religious problems with me for sharing the screen with me “. She was highly trolled on twitter for taking cursed selfies with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Here some Indian cricket fans blamed her for taking selfies with the players, which resulted in their poor performance in the match.
In the year 2018, when the Mahendra Sing Dhoni lead team “Chennai Super Kings ” won the trophy against the Virat Kohli lead team “Royal Challengers Bangalore “, Zainab praised Dhoni enthusiastically on Twitter.
