“But when I was offered this role, I was skeptical. I was not sure whether I will be able to pull of the character or not. I gave my nod only when I was convinced. Also, I thought as an actor I must accept such challenges”. Talking further about her character’s one side of the face which was damaged due to the acid attack, Roshni said that her mother was a little bit worried seeing her special make-up, where her character demanded her to put on prosthetic makeup; she said…..
“My parents saw this look during the look set and my mother was little scared. She asked will I be able to do this and what if something happens to my skin. I told her that if I have to develop as an actress, I have to take this risk. Now they are very supportive”. When she was asked about the challenges faced by her during applying and getting ready with this make-up, Roshni said….
“It takes around one to one and a half hours to get the make-up right. Also, depending on the skin condition etc., it doesn’t stay the same but then we have to match the continuity. For around 12-13 hours I stay like this. I cannot move one side of my face properly. I drink water via a straw. It’s difficult but as an actor I have taken this as a challenge. I am trying to do my best”.
When she was asked about how much the character stays back with her; is it easy to switch off from the role, Roshni further said….. “It is actually not easy. The problem of such roles is that you are not part of it, you are not a victim yourself so you have to think about it again and again. While doing that somehow the character stays with you. After reaching home, until and unless, I see my father and mother I do not feel comfortable”.
