Early Life

During her initial days of residency in Sweden, Maryam worked as a dance teacher & a model. She even work as a choreographer and had established a dancing school named the Indisk Dans Studio, where she used to teach the dancing numbers of famous Bollywood songs. The school was the first dancing school in Sweden of such kind.

Later in the year 2009 she moved her base from Sweden too Mumbai for trying her luck in the Indian Film Industry. She began her career in India by working as a model and appeared in various television advertisements. Some of her noticeable advertisements were Coca-Cola ad along side actor Imran Khan, Set Wet & Lays.

Maryam Zakaria started her journey in the Indian Film Industry by appearing in a small role (Special appearance) in the Bollywood film Paying Guests. The film was written & directed by Paritosh Painter and was produced by Subhash Ghai & Raju Farooqui.

This film had Shreyas Talpade, Vatsal Seth, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Chaudhary, Celina Jaitly, Riya Sen, Neha Dhupia & Sayali Bhagat all in the lead role. The music of the film was composed by Sajid-Wajid. Paying Guests was released on June 19th, 2009 under the Mukta Arts banner.

Later in the year 2010, she was seen in an item number in the Tamil-language action comedy film named Nagaram Marupakkam. Renowned Tamil film director Sundar C. signed her to perform the item number in his film after her watched her dancing moves on YouTube. Nagaram Marupakkam had Sundar C., Anuya Bhagvath & Vadivelu in lead role & was released on November 19th, 2010 under the Avni Cinemax banner.
