During an interview to the media personals, Nusrat said…. “During the film promotions, it is our job to reach out to the people. As a political leader, I will have to ensure their welfare as well”. During her election campaigns, Nusrat Jahan was a huge crowd puller, characteristically entertaining people with dance and music at election rallies.

She also said during an interview, after winning the elections that… “It is very important for young generation to come forward. There are a lot of issues to deal with. I will try to execute my plans for better development of my constituency and my people”. She even promised to take up the minority issues along with mob lynching in her constituency in the up-coming Parliament sessions.

After winning the elections, as promised, Nusrat introduced a new bus service for remote area of Basirhat. This service would especially help people of Sundarbans to reach Basirhat town. Otherwise, these people had to resort to several modes of transport for travelling to the town. She has also assured her constituency people that a bridge would soon be built on the Ichhamati River flowing through Hasnabad in Basirhat.

Media Interactions & News

During a media interview, Nusrat said her “so-called friends” were always been the first to run away and judge her in times of trouble. She was talking and referring about the media attention she received after announcing her pregnancy, Nusrat further said that her silence shouldn’t be misconstrued as an admission of guilt. 

She said that she preferred not to speak unless it was needed; but unfortunately her ‘silence should not be mistaken for being wrong’. Nusrat added further that “I have never played the ‘woman card’ or the ‘victim card’.” In the first public appearance after becoming a mother, Nusrat was asked about the identity of her child’s father. To this, she replied…..

“I think that’s a vague question to ask and puts a black spot on somebody’s character as a woman, who the father is. The father knows who the father is and we are having a great parenthood together at the moment. Myself and Yash, we are having a good time”.

Nusrat was previously involved in a controversy after she claimed that her ‘marriage’ to businessman Nikhil Jain was invalid. A local court in Kolkata ruled that the marriage of actor-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan and businessman Nikhil Jain was ‘not legally valid’. The order came amid the controversy regarding their marriage after the actor-politician claimed that she was “wrongly portrayed” and that the marriage was invalid in India.

“It is declared that the alleged marriage held on 19/06/2019 at Bodrum, Turkey in between the plaintiff and the defendant is not legally valid. The suit is, thus, disposed of on admission” the Kolkata court (Civil Judge – S Roy of 2nd court, Alipore) said. The order was based on religious grounds as Nusrat Jahan is a Muslim by faith, while Nikhil Jain is a Hindu. 

Coincidentally, the verdict came on Nikhil’s birthday, where Nikhil said it was a birthday gift for him. He further said…. “It’s definitely a birthday gift. I am happy and my family is finally happy as well,”. He further continued saying… “There was an attempt to destroy my name, my reputation. Even in front of the media, I was called bisexual. But I had my faith in our judicial system since the beginning. The court verdict has once again proved you can’t influence the judicial system even if you are powerful”.

Controversies

Nusrat was in a relationship with Kader Khan for about “three to four” years. In the year 2012, Kader was implicated in the gang rape of Suzette Jordan. During an interview to the media personals, Nusrat said that they broke up 5 months before the incident happened and that she and Kader remained good friends afterwards. She also said that if he had committed the crime, he must be punished by the court of law.
